China is not so Scary any More
I believe my site was visually pleasing, fulfilled all requirements set, and provided an insight into China. My favorite part of my site would be the timeline because I feel it would allow someone to learn about China quickly and effectively by highlighting certain events that shaped modern China. The timeline stands out for me because before this project I was always afraid of China in a way. I always thought it was this confusing country that didn't make sense or something, but in reality this fear was rooted in the unfamiliar China government and society that is very different to my own. By creating this timeline I was able to connect China to the U.S, make China one of my favorite countries, and create a desire to visit China in the future. I believe my website fulfilled all requirements set by having an easy-to-follow timeline and a DBQ that relates to events seen on the timeline. By touring classmates’ sites I was able to make connections between their countries and my own. For example, Mexico and China had a similar massacre that the countries militia caused, both held a summer Olympics game, and both are members of the United Nations. After looking at several sites a common idea came about. I realized that all of the countries are going through similar patterns of growth. The superpowers, like the United States and Russia, had strong economies and stable politics, causing other countries to choose to follow in one of the superpowers examples. This “shadowing” caused for really two types of governments in the world. This project allowed me to understand how the world’s countries are connected and further my knowledge on China and its magnificent history.
